Skyview Atlanta

My professional organization, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, met last week in Atlanta for the 2014 Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo.  Bob traveled with me, driving 610 miles each way.  We were here in the summer a few years ago when the weather was 110 degrees.  This trip the weather was fall-like and very pretty.  On this day when my last session was over at 3 pm, we rode the newest attraction, a 20 story Ferris Wheel overlooking Centennial Park.  What a view!

"We'd been here before
And done the tour
This was for us
In our own gondolas
20 stories high
My best friend and I
Above Centennial Park
We left our mark!"

Biddie's Pride

The portrait is another priceless photo received via Ancestry.com from a distant relative of Bob's.  That's Bob's Dad in the back right.

Classic Beauty

A few weeks ago I received a message via Ancestry.com from a descendant of the Bob's side of the family asking if we could identify anyone in the folder marked "Gay Family".  We were delighted to find pictures of Bob's Dad when he was a young adult.  This photo of Bob's Mom and Dad is priceless.

"Looking like a Pin-Up Model, sweet Maxine poses with a grinning Jim in the early days of marriage."  Late 1940s.

Cupola

On Bob's 60th birthday, we took a scenic train ride from Durbin, WV, traveling for 5 miles by the Greenbrier River.  The day was warm and the fall color was gorgeous.  We rode in the cupola of the caboose on the trip up and that was real special.  9/27/14

When Bob was in high school he worked at an asthmatic camp near Charleston called "Bronco Junction".  He and the other counselors lived in a caboose, where he liked to read in the cupola.
