Peony

One of the first flowers of spring, I cut the showy peonies for inside bouquets and gifts for my lovely Mom and friends.

Loving Gestures

It was a loving gesture when the male swallow flew in to relieve the female guarding the nest when he noticed us taking pictures.  But it was Mothers Day!  Bob & I enjoyed a lovely picnic at Ryerson Station State Park (Pa.), one of many loving things we do.

I am who I am

I love the lyrics to the Mothers Day song that accompanied the Hallmark ad on TV.  So I made this 8 X 8 page for my Mom.  The picture is Mom and I in 1953.

"Oh I am who I am because you are who you are".

April Cards

My friend Helen celebrated her birthday this month.  Helen is an RD, a scrapbooker and a Mom with a 1 year old daughter.  She has a great husband too.  I loved the quote on the digital element that says "The Prettiest Girls are the Happiest Girls".  Helen is both.

"It's not about grand gestures,
Or fine and grandeur things,
It's all about the laughter,
That friends and family bring.
It's all about small touches,
That brighten the day for you,
Along with cards and presents,
Which hold special wishes too.
Happy Birthday Helen!"

Wilma retired from the HSC kitchen many years ago.  I cried the day she left.  This year instead of a birthday card, I called Wilma on the phone to see how she was doing.  She sounded great.  This card was sent belated:

"This card comes a little bit late
But the wish is the same-
Hope your birthday was great!"

I paced my Mother's Day cards and gifts for my sisters and Mom, due to timing on travel times.  This card is for my sister Terry.  Terry taught first grade for 40 years. (Thus the Kindergarten paper).  The little Dalmatian chippie reminded me of our first dog-Toby.  I got Terry a fig tree for a present!

"It's your special day and I want you to know
That I think of you often and I love you so."

Nancy is a lifelong friend who celebrates a birthday on April 6.  We always had a great time together.  Nancy never forgets my birthday.  I thought the feather complemented the feathered cap in the paper.  The lady reminds me of Nancy.

"You'll always be the nicest friend
That I could ever know.
Here's wishing you a wonderful day
The best you've ever known."

For Mothers Day, I had a digital booklet made of the paper scrapbook I made for Mom in 2007.  Mom wants to give her town's heritage center many of her memories, and this one certainly has many.  In the book, I drove my Mom and Dad around town, took pictures and recorded their memories.  She'll love the card too.
"Mothers Day wishes are sent with all my love to you,
You're a very special lady because of all you do,
So enjoy this day with love
Have a nice relaxing day,
You deserve it all and more that words could ever say."

Today I pick up Mom, eat lunch at the Senior Center, then meet my sister in Morgantown where Mom will travel to Cleveland with Amy.  So she should have a "nice relaxing day".
This Mothers Day card is for my sister Amy, who loves lizards, frogs and nature's delights.  I'm happy to get to see her today.  I hope to buy a Goji Berry bush for Amy.

"It means so much throughout the year
To have a sister like you.
You're loving, warm and caring-
Very understanding too.
that's why this message comes with thanks and special love.
To wish you all the happiness you're so deserving of."

Did I mention the girls in my family have all boys-7 sons to 3 daughters!
Today is Mollie's last day of work at the Tri-Towns Senior Center.  She is transferring to a job closer to her home.

"So sorry you are leaving
And going to pastures new.
We will miss you much
We know you'll miss us too!"
