Home in the Park

We built our home by the woods many years ago. There we've enjoyed the changes surrounding our little blue home through all the seasons. In warm weather we sit on the front deck and watch the deer in our yard licking the salt block and eating nuts. In the spring, we wait for the wildflowers to bloom in the forest ravine. It was nice having Chris' dog Hank stay with us through late winter and early spring. He loves accompanying us on walks around our home.

Nancy & Charlene

Nancy and her daughter Charlene both worked in the WVU HSC Kitchen in the 1980s.  Charlene worked in Cold Production with a team of women, making salads and setting up patient trays. Nancy was a cook. In the 1997 picture, she was the HSC breakfast and grill cook. There she filled a steam line with breakfast eggs, meat, gravy, oatmeal and potatoes. Nancy also made eggs to order. She served many Cafeteria breakfast customers from the grill-one of the hardest jobs in the whole department. Charlene was kind and seemed happy with an ornery smile. Nancy was dedicated and worked hard.

I was tickled when remembering Charlene's then teenager son Michael exclaiming my name at the funeral of one of these ladies. Much later in life, Michael still remembers my name, as the postman who delivers my mail.

The New Year brought lots of snow and cold temperatures. Bob kept us shoveled, safe, stocked and happy together.
