Keyed Up

Even with little snow this January, the birds were active at the feeders. On the few days the sun shined, Bob took us on a ride, enjoying the scenery and sometimes a Fro-Coke or coffee. In the evening, I played the piano and Bob listened to Sport's Line. We most enjoy our time together.

Beachy

We were thrilled when Chris took us to the Delaware shore on our Christmas visit to Newark.

Hankgiving

We had a fantastic Thanksgiving when Chris brought Hank to stay at our house. Hank loves us and our routine. The turkey given to us from Working H was so good as was the Pineapple Upside Down Cake Chris brought from Bings. The weather was gorgeous and we walked to the pole line after lunch. We loved helping Chris with a few things and dining out Friday night.

I love hearing about Chris' work and am proud of the competent, caring young man he is.

Cheers

We met Greg and Michelle at Dulles to spend 3 days with them during their visit home from Sweden. Our first destination was the Air and Space Museum where we listened to Bob's description of each plane in detail and to Michelle describing the mechanics of the engines. The day culminated with a stop at the Manassas Bull Run battlefield. We headed west to Winchester on a beautiful fall day with stops in Middleburg for coffee and cookies and at Aldie historic mill. At Olde Towne Winchester Greg got computer games and we stopped in all the little shops. They loved the craft beer selection at my favorite restaurant. We were delighted to see our niece Sara Michael there. At the hotel, I loved meeting the kids in the hot tub and waching the planes land.

Cabin 1

We celebrated Bob's birthday at one of our favorite places-Holly River. The weather was cool yet the sun shined through the trees. We enjoyed walking in the park, sitting on the front porch and eating outside our favorite Cabin 1. One day we drove to Webster Springs and visited the local stores. We listened to the radio, played cards, read and enjoyed favorite hobbies.

The Ride

"Love doesn't make the world go 'round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile."

The quote is from a card Bob gave me on Independence Day "to my road-trip partner". This summer we took a ride one day a week-mostly on the back roads. Bob compared our back road adventures to that we did in college-the exception being this time we're on the road by 10am.

Some of the places we visited 2022 include: Manheim WV, Confluence Pa., Bruceton back roads to Frostburg, Lancaster, Newark, Elkins, Thomas, Harrisville, Holly River and Moundsville. That day was always something to look forward to.

Wings

We gave them wings so they could fly and roots to come back home. Here's Greg and Michelle in a Copenhagen butterfly sanctuary and the butterfly bush in our West Virginia yard.
