May Cards

My Mothers Day Card for Mom.  (She was a Rosie the Riveter during World War II).

"Just in case I forget to say
You are special to me in every way
Love you Mom now and forever".

A Mothers Day Card for my sister Terry, mother of 3 grown boys, now Grandmother to 3.

"Today is just for Mothers
So that of course is you,
You're someone who is loved a lot
You're thought the world of too.
So sit back and relax
Let others run around,
For another Mother as sweet as you
On this Earth will not be found."

For my lovely and creative friend Debbie on her birthday.

"I wish you joy, I wish you flowers,
I wish you many happy hours,
That having a special birthday can bring,
A wonderful day that makes the heart sing,
So enjoy every moment,
My very dear friend,
May your day be memorable from start to end."

For my nephew Jake, who graduated summa cum laude from Ohio State in May

"Congratulations on your graduation
You've been a roaring success,
Hope your new life and career
Brings you nothing but happiness."

For my colleague Richard whose body is rejecting some of the treatments received last year.  Richard is a mentor and leader in our professional association.  I sent him a copy of the 75 year commemorative issue published in May.

"Our little road is really blue
Because like us it misses you."

A wedding card for a young colleague.  He and his new wife love similar things as Bob and I, including taking picnics!

"This day will be etched in your memory,
The events are about to unfold,
Your wedding day is upon you,
You are about "To Have and To Hold",
Because from "From this Day Forward",
You two become husband and wife.
To treasure and love each other,
Together, for the rest of your life."

Betty retired from her job as a cook at the senior center where I take my Mom once a week.  (The other days, the center takes her meals on wheels).  Betty was a lovely lady, neat as a pin, who always wore pretty aprons.  I included a picture of her.

"Have a happy retirement
We are certainly going to miss you.
Have fun doing all things you want to day
Rather than all the things you have to do."

An anniversary card for our son Greg and his lovely wife Michelle.  (Married 5 years-together 14 years!)

"To a very special couple,
This card is sent to say,
That on your anniversary.
May it be a wonderful day.
A day to look back over the years,
And remember when you first met,
But also to look to the future
For many more happy years yet."

A birthday card for Jean, a former work colleague-lovely in every way.

"Someone special, someone kind,
It is you that comes to mind,
Birthday wishes, Birthday treats,
A wonderful day that's hard to beat,
Firends to party, friends to care,
It's a day all want to share,
Enjoy the time and what it brings,
Hopefully joy and beautiful things."

A thank you card for Marty, the chef manager at Huntington's Kitchen, who helped me with my demo earlier in the month.  He is a fun young and talented man.

"I'm just sayin' thanks,
For all the stuff you've done to help me through,
I hope one day you'll call on me
So I can help you too."

For Linda, owner of a cheese factory and farm, who donated white cheddar for our "Pesto Egg" farm fresh sampling in May.

"We appreciate your donation
We had a wonderful day
Everything went according to plans
Thank you is all we can say."

My great nephew Benjamin was 1 last weekend and we celebrated the event at a cook out with many well wishers.  My mother (his great grandmother) attended and loved watching the kids play.

"You are such a special boy,
and special boys deserve,
a birthday that is full of joy,
and all the love on earth."

Another former coworker, Rachael, had a daughter 2 months ago.  Rachael has 2 boys, probably 8 or more years old.  She is lovely and I printed a picture of mother and child for the cover.

My Mom and I love Mr. Arthur-Carl- who turned 90 today.  Carl was at the invasion of Normandy, a naval gunner who lied about his age to fight in World War II.

" N is for nice
I is for irresistible
N is for naughty
E is for everyones friend
T is for terrific
Y is for you
Happy Birthday

The Greatest Generation

Just after graduating high school, my Mom made airplanes at factories in Akron, "manned" mostly by woman.  Her work there has been recognized in many venues.  One of her comfort keepers ordered the official bandana for her and of course, I took her picture wearing it!  I rescued it and her Christmas card ("The Greatest Generation") to display on a page hung in her living room.

Farm Fresh Sampling

Happy to say, we're back for another season with Working H Farms providing Farm Fresh Sampling at the Morgantown Farmers Market.  The first Saturday of every month we spend our 3 1/2 hours of the market providing 200 plus samples.  "Sharing unique ways to combine healthy seasonal ingredients in meals served at home".

The pictures were taken earlier in the month at the West Virginia Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Annual Meeting where I conducted a session at the Huntington's Kitchen to show other dietitians how they could do the same.  One person commented after the demo:
"Cindy Gay leads the way in taking action at the farmers market doing culinary demonstrations regularly!  Thank you Cindy and Bob for all you do to make this city and state a COMMUNITY!!"

Mothers Day

It's always nice, though rare, to get a picture with our youngest son Chris.  Here we are (can't tell we're related, huh?) on Mothers Day after meeting for dinner, where he gave me a rose, a bottle of local wine and a gift card for Loft (my favorite clothing store).  Best of all was a sentiment he wrote in my card!

This verse is from Proverbs:
"She is clothed with strength and dignifty,
She can laugh at the days tocome.
She speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed."

April Cards

Easter cards for my Mom and sister.

"Have a very happy Easter
And may you find
Spring has left
The winter behind."

"Bunny rabbits and Easter eggs
a sign that spring is here
We celebrate this special time
with all that we hold dear.
Easter Wishes."

Our college friend Wayne, who is a photographer, turned 60 this month.  His wife, Mary Ellin, also our friend, asked for friends to send cards.

"The best moments are with loved ones
Yesterday, today and tomorrow
Here's to many more."

An Easter card for my friend, Vickie.

A card for my life long friend, Nancy, on her 64th birthday.

A card for my friend Betty who had hip surgery 2 weeks ago.

Foundation Gift Card Basket

The West Virginia Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, of which I am a member, has an annual foundation raffle to raise money for scholarships.  This year my farm store family friends and I made a basket for the event.  Working H Farms donated a $25 gift card.  I made (what else?) 25 handmade greeting cards.  Each card includes a verse that can be added on the inside or the card can be left blank.  Most of the cards have food related themes. Here are the cards:
