View
Look out any window this time of year to view the deer who feast on nuts and salt. The game camera added insight into who comes into the yard after dark.

49 & 71
September was a month to celebrate starting on the 5th when we celebrated our 49th wedding anniversary. On the 27th, we celebrated Bob's 71st birthday. Perhaps the best news of all was Chris moving back to West Virginia! He landed a job where the people liked him and welcomed him. He's near friends and only a little over 2 hours from home. We are blessed!

Summer Pleasures
Bob left me a tiny "expensive greeting card" after a day of doing the summer things I love:
"Nothing is better than a beautiful ride and beautiful day with a beautiful girl."
We also love sitting on our front porch watching the wildlife and drinking coffee or sharing a Coke. Our home is beautiful too!

Summer Smiles
I love summer and this one has been a good one. July was especially nice when Greg and Michelle visited Morgantown for 10 days. They spent most of that time with us, visiting state parks and markets. We were so happy when Chris got a job nearer home, where he'll work day shift and live in West Virginia.

Love Summer
I love summer. This season we're happy to enjoy our home. It's like living in a state park ! I love my flowers. Bob does a beautiful job with the yard. We
enjoy the wildlife-the deer (newly born fawns), chipmunks, squirrel,
birds and plants. We love our front porch time. In the morning I walk to
the bottom of our hill and walk around what used to be a truck lot. I
love the neatly trimmed lamb's wool border of our yard when I come back
up the hill. I'm seeing old friends at water aerobics in a beautiful new
pool. Once a week, Bob takes us on an adventure where he loves when I
find a seasonal flower, produce or bread. My favorite season in our
retirement!

High Roads
On our first out of town trip of 2025 we rented a cabin at Cacapon Springs State Park. The rain on Day 1 was replaced with a foggy mist on Day 2 ending on Day 3 with beautiful back-roads. Bob treated me by stopping at random green houses on the way home.

Just For Us
Every April the wildflowers in the woods adjacent to home begin to bloom. 1/4 acre of natural beauty-featuring the bluebells-erupts for Bob and I alone to enjoy.

Home in the Park
We built our home by the woods many years ago. There we've enjoyed the changes surrounding our little blue home through all the seasons. In warm weather we sit on the front deck and watch the deer in our yard licking the salt block and eating nuts. In the spring, we wait for the wildflowers to bloom in the forest ravine. It was nice having Chris' dog Hank stay with us through late winter and early spring. He loves accompanying us on walks around our home.

Nancy & Charlene
Nancy and her daughter Charlene both worked in the WVU HSC Kitchen in the 1980s. Charlene worked in Cold Production with a team of women, making salads and setting up patient trays. Nancy was a cook. In the 1997 picture, she was the HSC breakfast and grill cook. There she filled a steam line with breakfast eggs, meat, gravy, oatmeal and potatoes. Nancy also made eggs to order. She served many Cafeteria breakfast customers from the grill-one of the hardest jobs in the whole department. Charlene was kind and seemed happy with an ornery smile. Nancy was dedicated and worked hard.
I was tickled when remembering Charlene's then teenager son Michael exclaiming my name at the funeral of one of these ladies. Much later in life, Michael still remembers my name, as the postman who delivers my mail.

The New Year brought lots of snow and cold temperatures. Bob kept us shoveled, safe, stocked and happy together.
