Thankful For Everything

Fall 1958 was the first time I left home without my Mother. At 72, my mood still dips this time of year.

Fall didn’t last long this year. Temperatures were below normal.

The drought ended. Acorns were abundant and the deer feasted in our yard. One day  I counted 14 deer crunching nuts.

Bob and I were home as Bob rested from his third season of targeted chemo for a bladder tumor. Bob keeps up on the falling leaves and laundry. For the first time since retiring a decade ago, I have no volunteer or social activities. I walk and cook. (The water bill is up!) Bob and I both read and nod off while sitting on the lazy boy couch.

Here we are-the end of November. We are so thankful that Chris moved back to West Virginia. He’s 2 1/2 hours from home, working day shift for people who like him and living near friends and family.

Greg and Michelle call weekly and message to share adventures. Sundays often include calls from both sons.

I am thankful for Bobs’ constant companionship and care. He adorns me with flowers and escorts me on errands and markets. In late afternoon he takes my hand to tell me how he enjoyed his day with me. Who could ask for more?
