I'm a Dreamer

One of the reasons I enjoy scrapbooking is it keeps me from worrying. While I'm creating, I remember the time and place in the photograph and I add papers and embellishments to make it even prettier. This picture was taken on my last afternoon in Boston. The weather was miserable, damp and windy, but I made good use of my time walking around the harbor one more time.

2010

I usually start my pages by planning them around really good photographs. This was not one of them. I added filter after filter in Photoshop until I liked the effect, then printed the picture on watercolor paper. I thought it added to the "dreamy" effect.

This was made as part of my design team work at Scrap Yourself.

First Footing

There is an old Scottish tradition called "first footing" that said if the person who first entered your home on New Year's Day was a tall, dark-haired man then you would have good luck for the year. If there was only one dark haired man, he would cover the whole neighborhood. My Mom's Dad, Vista Mullan, was one of these men. When I was little, I recall my Grandmother insisting we girls next door stay put until a man entered.

Birds of a Feather

From the kitchen window, Bob caught the male cardinal while I was at work. I shot the female cardinal while Bob was at work. Together we made a great match!

Welcome Fest

We welcomed Michelle and the New Year with an "Hors d'oeuvres" dinner. Greg made a homemade pizza and Michelle joined us in the kitchen to prepare the other dishes. After dinner we watched "A Team".
