For the Birds
Here's another old layout I'm posting for a friend from Scrapbook.com after we agreed we did not like to put wings on people.
100 wrecks here in Morgantown yesterday (weather related) so I'm staying home a 3rd Sunday in a row!

Flutter
It is snowy and only 17 degrees here in Morgantown today and we and the cat spent the day watching the beautiful birds at the feeders. Here is a layout made a few years ago with a beautiful picture taken by my favorite photographer (Bob). I wrote the verse trying to mimic one of my favorite scrapbook poets, Ashley Calder.
"I asked for a picture
of the black capped fixture,
His acrobatic flight
and song a delight,
The clouds were thick
and his movements quick,
Bob and his shutter
caught wings a flutter."

Denver Designs
It's easy to see why Denver is one of the most Pedestrian Friendly cities in the US and also the healthiest. It was so easy to get around and so many things to see. The weather was beautiful and I took many pictures. I couldn't get a nice picture of the snow capped mountains from downtown, but the beautiful designs were everywhere. . . ceilings, buildings, windows and walls. Here's a sampling of those designs all just a few buildings apart. Even the triangle mosaics on this page were cut from a picture of a stained glass sky light in a retail store. 2009
The embossed paper at the top of the page was purchased from Shelz Studio in Buchannon, WV....one of the neatest paper stores I've ever seen. I'm unsure if the paper was for wrapping or perhaps book binding, but it is beautiful.

Gumby & Pokey
Greg will spend his 23rd birthday in Beijing while on a 2 month collaborative study at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Sending him off was a very emotional experience. We gave him a small gift box with a bendable Gumby and Pokey to perhaps sit on his desk there and remind him of us. Oh how he loved the claymation show. . . and oh how we love him! 1988 and 2010

David's 58th
Bob's brother David's birthday falls just before Christmas on December 18th. This year David planned his Christmas visit then. On that day it snowed 2 feet in David's hometown Beckley and 8 inches in Morgantown. I shouldn't have doubted he'd make the trip (he's the traveling pharmacist for CVS in Southern WV). As I was cleaning house on that snowy Saturday, I heard a little knock on the back deck door. There was David! We had a nice visit in our warm and cozy home, and when he left Bob and I walked down the hill to help him clean off his car. 2009

Composing
Here is the latest layout of my Scrapbook Room. I need to get a new curtain (a pretty one that keeps out the light!). My latest addition is the clothes line where I hang some unique supplies I want to use.
I call this layout "Composing": My husband is a newspaper man and I've heard him talk about "composing", where the components of the paper are put together before sending to the press. This is my "composing" center. . . where I combine photos and journaling with pretty paper and accents to create memories of our life. November 2009

One Word 2010: Positive
Since I'm adding photographs to the top of my weekly menus now, I have to keep up with work related shots...52 of them! So on Monday, I took my good camera to work and walked around the outside the building to try and get some weather art. No luck there--the frozen dirty snow was no longer pretty, yet I just couldn't pass up the self portrait in the reflective windows. It was a fitting photo to go with my "word" for 2010.
That word is "Positive". My goal is to keep that mindset, be constructive, generate electricity (warmth, energy & perhaps some sparks!), and make my presence in this world a real existence.

This is not Santa
This is not Santa. I do not remember this guy but I do remember the coat. My sister Terry had one just like it.
The Santa I know and love had the same last name as me. Dad & Ms. Claus, Mom, made every Christmas special. On any given day, they gave us everything we needed.

The Best Stories
She didn't win the "Britain has talent" contest, but awed fans world-wide with her rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream". The You Tube broadcast received 300 million hits by year end and her Christmas CD release set record sales. Susan Boyle and Captain "Sully" Sullenberger won our hearts.
With both engines out, a cool headed pilot maneuvered his crowded jet-liner over New York City and ditched it into the frigid Hudson River and all 155 on board were pulled to safety as the plane slowly sank. It was, the governor said, "a miracle on the Hudson". January 2009
