Good Zoo

The Good Zoo at Oglebay State Park was just our speed.  1 1/2 miles of trails, mostly happy animals and some you could touch.  We got the best "selfie" ever there posing with a hungry Llama.  We also rode a small train through the zoo on this beautiful spring day.

Also in Wheeling, WV is a local scrapbook store called "Mom's Memories" with a branch in Washington, Pa.  Since it was National Scrapbook Day, we stopped at both stores.  I love the Mama Razzi "Oh Snap!" stamps I got there!

Fighter

On Tuesday my Dad learned he has a medical condition that's serious but treatable.  When my sister asked about our parents spirits, I said "he's a fighter".  My almost 91 year old Dad never stops.  He wants to feel better so he can mow the grass.

Here he is after a long day at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg.  Bob said I wasn't suppose to take pictures on VA grounds, but I'm thinking since he's one of a few living WW2 Purple Heart recipients, it's ok.

 I sprayed a little purple mist on the heidi swapp hearts as Dad is standing by the Purple Heart memorial.  April 30, 2013

Scenics & Detail

We had gorgeous weather Saturday and first drove to Cooper's Rock State Forest near Morgantown.  There were many spectators on the overlook.  From there, we took the old road-Rt. 73- to Bruceton Mills.  We turned at Collins Road and parked when we saw a beautiful pond with cattails, daffodils, pines and a fallen tree.  We ended at Bruceton Mills where the fishermen were out on the Big Sandy River.

Journaling:  When I asked Bob if he'd taken a picture of the cattail, he replied, "No I'm still doing my scenics".  (He hadn't gotten to the detail shots)  What a great day to taken the back road!

Finally Spring

The colorful spring blossoms on the trees and ground may only last a week, so we made a mission to get out and absorb the beauty.

Photos are from 1) Friendship Hill 2) Ritter Park in Huntington where the robins were feasting on worms after a flash flood! 3) WVU Campus.  The ornamental pear trees at WVU Hospitals, where I work, were simply gorgeous. . . but only bloomed for a week.  We made a point of going there on a Saturday so that I could get pictures to add to my internet menu.  Our menus are public, so you can check it (& the photos) at:http://www.hsc.wvu.edu/cafeterias/HSC-Healthy-Cafe

Friendship

Yesterday Bob and I went to a nearby park to photograph wildflowers.  The park is called "Friendship Hill".  This page is dedicated to him, my best friend forever!

When Chris arrived at Daytona Beach for Spring Break 2013, he said "This place is boomin'!"
