Couchgating with local favorites

One of our favorite things to do on our day off together is to go to the Farmer's Market and to New Day Bakery to buy our favorite "Seven Grain Bread".  We watched the baker bring the first loaves out of the brick oven and these were studded with cheese.  We couldn't resist.

My finds at the Farmer's Market were beets and a perfectly sized winter squash from Evans Knob Farm in Bruceton Mills.

For dinner (we're "Couchgating" here in Morgantown watching WVU play at Oklahoma) I baked the squash with a filling of diced local apples, orange juice and a little brown sugar/cinnamon.   The beets were cooked and pickled with hard cooked eggs.  And the scrumptious bread was toasted with sliced tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and a sprinkle of Mrs. Dash.  Now that's good eating!
